Three months ago, I formed my presidential exploratory committee, Friends of Herman Cain. The goal was to evaluate if I would be able to garner the necessary voter and donor support to actually launch a campaign as an unconventional candidate who believes in common sense solutions and returning America to the glory of its founding. Despite the strong grassroots support I enjoyed from patriots all across the country, the mainstream media willfully ignored our growing momentum, often deeming me the “longest of long shots” among potential candidates. In fact, one of the nation’s premier polling companies, Gallup, refused to include me in their telephone survey regarding potential 2012 contenders. A political science professor in Georgia even stated that I would “receive less than 1 percent of the vote.”
Now, I wish to share with him--- and you--- that I have been included in the past two Gallup telephone surveys. And let’s just say I got more than 1 percent of the vote. In fact, when they finally started including me as an option, I came in second place out of 14 potential candidates.
While the other potential candidates have been included for several weeks now, in only my second round being included, I move up from 4th place to 2nd place. In this survey, I beat out career politicians, media darlings and well-funded elected officials. While each certainly has some appealing qualities, none of them have what I have--- and that’s YOU!
Please continue to stand with me as I prayerfully consider a bid for the White House. Because I've never held public office and I'm not a career politician, I'm not beholden to the special interests of Washington. Because I'm not beholden to these same special interests, I cannot rely upon their large contributions. Instead, I must rely upon you--- the people.
